Taylor Swift sets songwriting record; you go, Tay-Tay! 09 October 2013 by Kayleigh Dray Just one more reason to love Taylor Swift, eh? Email Print RSS Share Taylor Swift at the CMT Awards 2013 Taylor Swift has been called a lot of things - role model, amazing singer, ex-girlfriend to the stars - but now she can add RECORD BREAKING SONGWRITER to her list. We imagine she'll be pretty chuffed with that one! The Nashville Songwriters Association International has announced that it will name Taylor as songwriter / artist of the year for the SIXTH time, putting her ahead of five-time
winners Vince Gill and Alan Jackson. And, at just 23 years old, that's definitely saying something; she's the youngest to ever win the award. The honour isn't a small one; it recognizes Nashville-based musicians who have nabbed Top 30 singles — and, as Taylor released 14 of them between July 2012 and June 2013, we're guessing this one was a no-brainer for them. Need an extra reason to feel proud of the We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together songstress? Well, while some stars put their trophies on the mantel over the fireplace at home (or in the downstairs loo), Tay-Tay will proudly put hers on display at the Taylor Swift Education Centre at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville, which opens this weekend. Not only is the centre named after her, but she donated a whopping $4 million to it (the largest single one donation made in the museum's 46-year history), so we quite like that she'll be sharing her award with them as well.
